If someone files bankruptcy and all their Credit Card Debt is discharged?

Is this like a government bailout? After all a chapter 7 bankruptcy is a federal case. So if large corporations get bailed out of their financial mess then why not individuals who are in need of help?

You could look at it as a government bailout, but there are consequences to those actions. If your debt is gone because of bankruptcy, you can no longer get credit for almost a decade without paying high interest rates, if at all.

Individuals in need of help do get help, but there also has to be a change of habits. The government is also requiring a change of habits from companies recieving LOANS from the government to stay afloat and provide vital goods and services to the American people.

Retail Credit Cards

Downside to retail Credit Cards?

Due to the difficulty of getting PC games retail nowadays I want to start using steam, but i need a credit card for that and i dont have my own. So are the retail ones you can buy at wal mart, kroger, target, and other retail stores worth getting? Any and all info appreciated
I am not talking about gift cards, im talking about retail credit cards, retail visas i think is what they are called.

I think you’re talking about buying gift cards. Retail cards are specific to the store, so a Target card can only be used at Target. When buying gift cards for use at other places, make sure they have a common brand visible on the face (Visa, mastercard, etc.) There is usually a one-time fee to activate the card (~$4) and, of course, the charge for the amount of the card.

Sbi Credit Card Customer Care

SBI Credit card issues?

Hi,
I purchased a SBI Gold credit card one year back in India. While signing the card, the professional told that there would be no Annual charges for this card. Currently I am having the card in US and I haven’t used the card not even once till now in India as well as US. But yesterday I received a SBI statement stating that I need to pay Rs. 1650 for annual charges. I sent a mail to SBI but haven’t received any reply.

1) Could you please let me know how can I take up this issue?
2) Without being told that there is an annual fees, Do I need to pay it?
3) I want to contact the SBI customer care from US & talk to them regarding this. What number do I need to contact?
4) Can my parents in India can approach SBI bank, escalate & cancel the card.
5) Let me know what step can be taken to waive the charge?

You have a lt of questions and perhaps they are answerable only by SBI people.

SBI customer care number is 00 91 80 26599990

Call them ans ask for a explanation. They might help you. But they dont give you service like any private banks, but still you can call them and ask the issue.

The professional might have told you that there is no anual fees, but it is your sole responsibility to read the docs before you sign up. If they tell you to pay, there is no other way pay off. Its just $40 na.

Hope i answered you in a best way.

Credit Card Balance

May 11th, 2012 · Credit Cards

How do I calculate my Future Credit Card balance?

How do I calculate what my credit card balance will be in 6 months using my current balance, my APR, and my monthly payment?
Sorry, I should have added that I will not be making any future purchases.
Is there an online financial calculator I can use?

There are way too many variables that you did not list. Here is how to do it in very simple terms.

Use a financial calculator. Input the following.
Period = 6 (months)
Interest = your APR %
Payment = your monthly payment (must be same amount each month)
Present Value = current balance (should be entered as a negative number)
Future Value = COMPUTE

Truthfully, the period is more like 180 days and the interest is your APR / 180 because the interest is calculated on an “average daily balance.” Also, if you change your payment amount month to month, this would change you balance 6 months from now.

Hope my advice is helpful.
