Elderly family member.?

Let me tell you about this family member of mine before I tell you about my dilemma. He is 92 years old, very active. Drives to Atlantic city and back (100+ miles from home), does auto mechanics (changes tires), He has no signs of getting older, Anywho. I was recently in an accident with my 1998 Buick Century, I got it in April (First Car). My insurance won’t cover the damage, Since I have Liabilty, Full Coverage too much (Jersey Boy). I work at New car dealership about trading my car in as the deposit and fees for $500. They wouldn’t accept it, I WORK THERE, CLEAN UP THEIR LOT. Anywho, That didn’t work, I went a well-known TRUSTED Used Car Lot. I got myself a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer LT. The family member is pissed off at me, why I did it. I told him that I don’t have money to repair my car, I rather finance and somewhat build more credit. He’s like “I could repair it for less”, I told him I want a hood that matched my car and properly installed. I don’t know what his problem is.
