Why I see Judo guys beat Brazilian Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in youtube videos?

Yes, indeed some Judoka beat BJJ guys. If it’s a Judo match of course the Judoka will probably plant the guy for an Ippon before the BJJ can work his ground magic. But, there is Judo players beating BJJ guys in Bjj Tournaments.

Why?

Judo isn’t totally incompetent on the ground. Judo doesn’t equal BJJ in time on the ground or the diversity of BJJ’s ground arsenal. But, Judo, with what groundwork they do, become strong at it. They tend to be more explosive and set a quicker pace due to their usual Judo tournament average of 30 seconds on the ground. So, BJJ are masters on the ground but, it doesn’t always take a huge toolbox to get the job done. You just need a few really good tools at the right time to get the job done.

Judo also has the advantage of throwing. Judo players tend to almost always dominate the throw. BJJ guys usually just go with it too and let them dominate the opening throw. This throw can stun a guy and provide and opening for a submission victory. So, Judo definetly has this going for them over BJJ.

But, Judo guys dominating BJJ guys isn’t always the case. Who dominates who more depends on the quality of the fighters and circumstances. BJJ guys win their fair share though. But, Judo is similar enough, and has their own strengths too to secure the win over BJJ guys from time to time.
